Dr Shabbir Indorewala
Dr.Shabbir Indorewala was born in 1953 in Nashik. He has passed MS in ENT in 1981 from Grant Medical College, Bombay. He is a recipient of R.A.F. Cooper Award in 1996 and AOI-E.Merck Award in 1997.He is best known for his original research work on “Dimensional Stability of the Free Fascia Grafts”, which included animal experiments. These research papers have been published in “The Laryngoscope”. In 2007 he was invited by World Fascia Research Congress at Harvard University, Boston for a presentation on his research work.He has developed and popularised Endomeatal Tympanoplasty. He has studied and developed concept of Dimensional Stability of the Free Fascia Grafts. He has also developed and popularised a concept of Anterior Tympanotomy. He has also conceptualised and developed: (1) Remote controlled hydraulic operation table, (2) Auto regulated remote controlled generator switch, (3) Pedal controlled temperature regulated ear syringe, (4) Pedal controlled pressurized cannula / tube cleaning jet. He holds intellectual property right as a Patentee of Endoscopic Surgical Operating Instrument and also of Emergency Unit Drug Box.He has large private practice as ENT consultant and surgeon since 1982, at an excellent ENT center at Indorewala ENT Hospital and Institute, Nashik, Maharashtra, India. The institute is accredited by National Board of Examinations, Ministry of Health, Government of India for PG courses in ENT

Did his MBBS from Meerut, DLO from Delhi University where he topped, and then his MS from PGI, Chandigarh, where also he topped and got a medal. He is presently the Professor & Head of ENT Unit, at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and assoc. RML Hospital, New Delhi.He was the first surgeon in the country to have started the Transcanal Minimally Invasive Technique in cochlear implantation for the totally deaf, of which he has done more than 125 cases. He has done Live cochlear implant surgeries, in conferences around the country. He is the only surgeon from India, who has done Live cochlear implant Surgery in Pakistan, during the 1st. Cochlear Implant Symposium at Lahore. He also performed Live Cochlear Implant surgery in the 6th SAARC Conference in Bangladesh.He is Advisor to UPSC & WHO, Member of the Central Co-ordination Committee for Hearing Handicap, Member (Sub-committee) for Ali Yavar Jung Institute of Hearing Handicap, to name a few. He is also ENT Consultant to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.He has traveled and Lectured around the world in conferences and Workshops, including Australia, USA, Singapore, Japan, Europe, Oman, Pakistan, Sri-lanka, Bangladesh etc.He has been “The visiting cochlear implant surgeon” to The University of Melbourne (Bionic Ear Institute) Australia.He was awarded the Padmashree by HE, Hon’ble President of India, in the year 2005.
